Ruby McKnight Williams
The Pasadena chapter of the NAACP is one of the oldest in country - founded just 10 years after the creation of the national organization. One notable member is Ruby McKnight Williams. She was elected as branch president in 1959, 1960, 1969, and served into the 70’s. Under McKnight’s leadership the Pasadena NAACP supported two national precedent-setting civil rights cases. This bench and marker at the corner of Westgate and Arroyo, are dedicated to her memory. *
